WHAT IS IPATH TRAINING?
A Method Developed Through Observation, Practice & Case Study
The IPATH Method® is a distinct therapeutic framework developed by Denese Cavanaugh through years of teaching, observation, case study, and refinement. Codified in 2012, the method integrates myofascial release, skeletal balance, movement re-education, and therapeutic yoga into a progressive approach to understanding and working with the body. Through repeated application and careful attention to how the body responded, the method evolved into a foundational sequence designed to support myofascial release, skeletal balance, and re-education of the musculoskeletal system.
This raised an important question:
If every body is unique, why begin with the same sequence?
The answer emerged through years of practice.
With therapeutic practices, while every body requires individual observation and adaptation, the foundational sequence consistently provided a powerful starting point—not only for releasing restrictions in fascia and soft tissue, but for addressing the relationship between the soft tissues and the joints beneath them.
This is a fundamental distinction of the IPATH approach.
Fascia release is not the destination. It is the pathway.
By combining myofascial release with Integral Postural Alignment Therapeutics, IPATH creates a pathway toward greater skeletal balance and movement efficiency—providing a foundation for a more comprehensive approach to pain care.
The progression is:
Fascia Release → Skeletal Balance → Movement Re-education → Pain Care
Students learn not simply to teach a sequence, but to understand the principles behind it: how to observe the body, recognize patterns, apply the foundational sequence with intention, and adapt therapeutic movement to the individual.
This is the essence of learning IPATH:
Release → Reorganize → Re-educate
IPATH is ultimately a therapeutic framework for understanding how the body organizes itself through the relationship between fascia, joints, posture, movement, breath, and awareness.
The goal is not to impose alignment on the body, but to create the conditions for the body to release, reorganize, and move with greater efficiency.
